Why constellations?
Constellations are meaningful to me as an artist and specifically as a framework for my scribing. To me, constellations represent the collection of influences that make me the person that I am as well as the many facets of my creativity. They also challenge us to reach beyond the boundaries of what we know into the possibilities of what we can imagine.
Webs of Relationship
Constellations are able to connect stars that are lightyears apart and place them in relationship with one another. These relationships are flexible to stretch and shift into new patterns. This flexibility offers an ever changing perspective that challenges the restrictions of our current systems and institutions
Space
Constellations are filled with space! This emptiness leaves room for the unknown and acknowledges our gaps and limitations. Space also offers a weightlessness that can alleviate heavy burdens and provide room for healing
Envisioning Beyond Our World
In the lineage of freedom dreamers, Afrofuturist thinkers, science fiction authors and more, constellations teach us how to see beyond what is possible and imagine something new. This expansive sense of imagination is central to dreaming more liberated futures and moving towards deeper care and listening
